Civics

  • Start the project: 
  • Research Richmond City on a FSP (fresh sheet of paper):
    • How many square miles is Richmond City?
    • When was it founded?
    • What are voter districts? How many does Richmond have? What are they like (type of people there, kinds of houses and businesses?) - see dad for this information
    • Look at the Richmond City website - what services does the city provide it's people?
  • Prepare a tourism poster describing the city of Richmond. Include facts and information, pictures and maps - anything that might get someone excited about visiting Richmond. 
  • Lets walk down to the tourism office at the convention center to gather materials for your poster.
  • This is due Friday Sep 9, 2016

Pretend you are running for mayor. Pick 5 issues from yesterday (not including the bike thing). What are your ideas for Richmond? How would you tackle these issues? (this is called a politician's platform)

Write up your platform and make a campaign poster - Lilah for Mayor!

Spelling
  • Review your flashcards
  • Quiz on Friday

Spanish
  • Review vocab cards from Tuesday (pages 8 - 11)
  • Write a sentence for each vocab word above (in Spanish)


Science
  • Complete the KWL Chart
  • Make sure you can log into Discovery Learning and go to:
    • Grade 6 - Space Science (this sin't really grade 6 stuff, their Earth Science stuff is all jumbled)
    • Do the Inner planets lesson - Session 1
    • On a FSP - 
      • Take notes on the lesson (have me look at them)
      • List the inner planets
      • Which planet is most like Earth (the surface)?
      • Which ones have an atmosphere?

  • Watch the video - Phoenix Mars Landing: Nerves and Joy

Writing
  • On a FSP -->
    • What is your favorite city that you have visited? What made it a great place to visit? What would make it a great place to live?
